Site Upgrade!
One of the coolest things about the internet is that it’s never really finished. There are always new ideas to explore, better ways to do things, and opportunities to improve. This site is growing, and it’s increasingly clear that it’s time for an update.
With that in mind, we’ve decided to modernize the technology that powers Pianotechnicians.org.
Rather than continuing to build and maintain every piece of infrastructure ourselves, we’ve chosen to convert the site to a mature, widely used content management system. It will take care of all the mundane—but essential—things like user accounts, passwords, security, and navigation, but leveraging it’s capabilities as an extensible ecosystem will allow us to focus our efforts on building the features that will support this community.
Our primary focus is on the server-side functionality that will support new capabilities. At the same time, the new platform gives us the flexibility to change the site’s appearance much more easily through standardized themes. As a result, you may notice occasional changes to the look and feel of the website as we experiment and refine things. But for now, we’ve intentionally chosen a straightforward, somewhat austere theme while we continue building the features that matter most.
As you can see, the core functionality is in place, and some advanced features are already working and being beta tested. But there’s always more to do…
As always, thank you for your encouragement and for being part of this community!
